The last 48 hrs have seen both positive announcements and harrowing attacks.
Only hours after announcing the safe extraction of a number of Ascend members, a twin attack on the gates at the airport occurred- killing dozens and injuring many more. Our hearts go out to the victims and their close ones.
Thankfully none of the Ascend members were at the scene at the time, however are understandably traumatised and shaken. We are preparing to support them as the mental trauma sinks in.
This is the bitter reality of the situation, and we are doing our best to support the girls across a variety of circumstances- both in Afghanistan and out. Our message to them is that we are working on your behalf and will never stop supporting you. Ascend is with you and will always be.
